1.- SIMULATION, DATA ACQUISITION AND RECONSTRUCTION SUBTASK

CHARGE: Program the simulation, data acquisition and reconstruction coding. Perform
calculations to optimize the muon counter design and its data reconstruction. Include in the
Offline a working computer code for hybrid AMIGA simulations and data reconstruction.

2.- BURRIED ARRAY TELESCOPE AT AUGER (BATATA) SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Gustavo Medina Tanco
CHARGE: Design, construction, and commissioning of a 3 XY scintillator muon counters with
stand alone electronics. Deployment and commissioning of a three pair (tank + counter)
detector system. AMIGA experimental punch-through studies.

3.- SCINTILLATOR MODULES SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Armando Ferrero
CHARGE: Design, construction, and commissioning of muon counters scintillator modules.
Fibers and strips gluing. Casing. Design and construction of the electronics enclosure. Design
and construction of the optical connectors, fly cutter. Connector-PMT alignment. Module-
electronics integration and scanning testing. Transportation to the Observatory.

4.- PHOTOMULTIPLIER, PULSES AND DATA BASES SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Federico Suarez
CHARGE: Design, construction and commissioning of a PMT testing facility. Cross-talk.
Potting. Characterization of pulses produced by particles traversing the scintillator strips,
light yield. Optical fibers and light attenuation. Storage databases.
Working Groups: Centro Atómico Constituyentes.

5.- TELECOMMUNICATIONS SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Beatriz García
CHARGE: Design, construction and commissioning of a telecommunication system using
standard IEEE 802.15.4 technology. The system must be able to carry both the muon counter
and surface detector data. The design must be modular with a view to replace the entire
Auger South communication system in case of need.

6.- ELECTRONICS DESIGN, COMMISSIONING AND INTERCONNECTION
SUBTASK

underground, surface components and their interconnection. Slow control.

7.- ELECTRONICS LOGISTICS AND TESTING SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Peter Buchholz
CHARGE: PCB layout and electronics board production. Potting. Full electronics testing and
database storage. Quality assurance. Shipping.

8.- PHOTOVOLTAIC SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Luis del Peral
CHARGE: Design, construction, and commissioning of muon counters photovoltaic system,
including panels aluminum frames and poles, batteries, and battery boxes.

9.- DETECTOR STATION SOFTWARE SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Zbigniew Szadkowski
Perform the MC FPGA coding, trigger the MC with SD and synchronize both detectors, read
the 802.15.4 wireless data and incorporate it in the CDAS.

10.- DEPLOYMENT SUBTASK

SUBTASK LEADER: Ingomar Allekotte
CHARGE: Design the deployment strategy from the Observatory site, perform the
deployment for both surface detector and muon counters: holes, soil studies, access tunnel.
Land contract with landowners.
